Let’s talk about 4 proactive things we can do to help us take care of our mental wellbeing.
- Take 5 minutes every morning to meditate
So often our mornings are rushing to shower, eat and get to work.
5 minutes of meditation in the morning can help bring a lot of peace of mind to the rest of your day.
- Exercise
The benefits of exercise are not just physical.
Exercise increases energy levels, improves cognition and focus, helps you sleep and actively fights stress and depression by releasing mood boosting hormones and chemicals.
If you can exercise in nature, even better!
- Sleep
Why do we need 8 hours of sleep?
Not everyone understands that your immune system comes alive in your sleep repairing body and brain tissue.
People who sleep less than 6 or more than 9 hours per night are more likely to suffer anxiety and depression.
Make sure you get a proper night of rest by going to bed around the same time each night and getting between 7 and 8 hours of sleep.
- Say ‘No’ to things
Lady Gaga credits turning the tables on her battle with depression to saying ‘No’.
Say no to social media, to events you don’t want to attend, to fast food, to drinking too much, and to things you don’t actually benefit from.
Saying no gives you control building self respect, confidence and optimism.
Thankfully, our society is more sophisticated and understanding of mental health nowadays but enacting positive habits is critical.
Try these and let us know what works for you!
